Winter Storm Vulcan created a travel nightmare for parts of the Midwest and Northeast on Wednesday, and it was taking one parting shot at New England on Thursday before exiting the U.S.

Thousands of flights were canceled Wednesday and at least one pileup on the Ohio Turnpike turned deadly.

The National Weather Service in western New York confirmed blizzard conditions at Buffalo Niagara International Airport, marking the first time in 130 years of record-keeping that two blizzards hit the area in one season.
