If you aren’t phased by another full moon, what if I told you it was also a supermoon?

This is one special celestial sight, and you won’t want to miss it.

What To Know

The Harvest Moon receives its name for being the closest full moon to the fall equinox, which was on Sept. 22 this year.

So if you recall a Harvest Moon falling in September — you would be right! Depending on the year, it can fall in either September or October.

This moniker came about because the Harvest Moon typically rises right around sunset for several days, giving farmers more time to harvest their crops.

But it isn’t just any old regular full moon, it's also…

…A Supermoon?

No, this doesn't mean the moon acquires super powers — though that would be cool.

A supermoon occurs when the full moon coincides with when the moon is at its closest point to Earth.

This makes the full moon appear even bigger and brighter.

The Harvest Moon is the first of three consecutive supermoons in 2025, so if you don’t catch a glimpse in October, don’t worry.

Make plans to have your eyes on the skies for the Beaver Moon on Nov. 5 or the Cold Moon on Dec. 4.
