The 2025 NFL regular season kicks off tonight with the Philadelphia Eagles taking on the Dallas Cowboys at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.

But Mother Nature might get in on the action, too. Could storms potentially delay the first game of the season? Let's take a look at the forecast.

Thursday Night Forecast

For those of you making the trek to Philly for the game, the afternoon hours will be perfect for tailgating. Sunny skies and temperatures falling through the low-80s and into the upper-70s are in the forecast before game time.

But as we get closer to the 8:20 p.m. EDT kickoff, rain chances start to increase.

Showers and perhaps a thunderstorm could move into the area during the game, and could hang around for the rest of the night.

In true summer fashion, these showers and storms could be brief, but delays are possible if lightning is detected within the area of the stadium.

But the good news for fans and players alike is that temperatures will cool off into the mid-70s, making for a refreshing taste of fall to go hand and hand with football.
