Threats From Ernesto Impacting US Coastal Areas

Erick and Flossie were both hurricanes at one point in their life span but passed near Hawaii at a much weaker intensity in early August.

Erick moved well south of the Big Island as a tropical storm on Aug. 1 but did enhance rainfall there. There were several small landslides, including one on Highway 19 near Hilo, according to Hawaii News Now.

A few days later on Aug. 4, Flossie moved just north of the Hawaiian Islands as a tropical depression.

Both storms churned up high surf in Hawaii.
