Another snowstorm is tracking across the nation's northern tier. Here's what to expect.

A wind-whipped snowstorm tracked across the nation's northern tier and produced blizzard conditions in parts of the Midwest.

This weather system was named Winter Storm Peggy by The Weather Channel.

An intensifying low-pressure system spread snowfall from the upper Midwest and Great Lakes into the interior Northeast.

While most areas saw modest snowfall, it was the combination of snow and wind that was most hazardous.

Blizzard conditions were reported in parts of Iowa, including in Jasper County, where a wreck involving an estimated 40 vehicles occurred along Interstate 80 east of Des Moines.

Here are a few top snowfall totals:

Iowa: 6 inches in Marion

Illinois: 4.5 inches Freeport

Michigan: Estimated 12 inches in Alston

Minnesota: 6 inches near Buffalo

Wisconsin: 11.1 inches in Rhinelander
