Winter Storm Jimenez blanketed parts of the West, Plains, Midwest and Northeast with snow in the third weekend of January 2023.

Much of western Kansas and extreme eastern Colorado picked up 6 to 10 inches of snow. While some heavier 6-inch-plus totals were reported in northern Missouri, the Kansas City metro reported only an inch or less of slushy snow.

Light snow totals of 1 to 3 inches were common from Iowa into Chicagoland and southern Lower Michigan, including Detroit. Heavier totals around 6 inches occurred in a swath over Ohio from the Cincinnati metro area into Cleveland.

The heaviest snowfall, however, was over a swath of northern New England from southern Vermont to Maine. Almost 19 inches of snow was reported near Dedham, Maine. The Boston metro area picked up from 2 to 6 inches of snow.

The weight of this heavy, wet snow and strong winds left tens of thousands without power in Maine, Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Pounding waves and minor coastal flooding was reported along parts of the New England coast at high tide.
