According to the World Bank, roughly 3.4 billion people are part of the global work force. Of that, 49 percent are women. They hold a variety of jobs, many of which were previously only occupied by men. Women have and continue to break the glass ceiling, many becoming the “first” in their fields and positions. From taxi drivers to Boeing aircraft pilots, women all around the world are moving forward to secure their places in the work force.

To document the growth, Agence France-Presse, an international news agency, went around the world to photograph the women who work jobs that have traditionally been held by men in their countries.
