The PGA Championship weather forecast looks mainly dry near Philadelphia, but will turn hot by Sunday's final round.

The beautiful Aronimink Golf Club — located in Newtown Square just west of Philadelphia — is hosting the 108th edition of the PGA Championship from Thursday through Sunday.

The weather looks to largely agree, but will it be a hole-in-one?

Forecast

Fortunately, any rain chances appear low and it will trend warmer through the tournament.

Friday

Expect more clouds than sun, but slightly warmer with a high in the upper 60s or lower 70s. Northwest winds up to 15 mph are expected.

Saturday

This is probably the best weather day of the tournament. Expect plentiful sunshine and highs reaching the low 80s. Winds will shift to southwesterly from 10 to 15 mph.

Sunday

The final day of the championship is also the warmest. Highs are expected to climb well into the 80s, possibly near 90, which is about 20 degrees above average. Along with the heat, there are winds out of the west at 5 to 10 mph and some increasing humidity. We can't completely rule out a shower, but for now that chance looks highest in western Pennsylvania.

Previous Weather Impacts

I love looking at notable weather impacts at sporting events, especially since it doesn’t look this way this year.

A notable year that stuck out to me was when the BMW Championship was held at the Aronimink Golf Club in September 2018. While this is a different event, I wanted to pick the last time this course saw crazy rainfall.

And that sure happened in September 2018, when what was left of Tropical Storm Gordon got swept up by a cold front moving across the country at the time. This brought inches of rainfall to the area causing a delay of play until the next day.

Fortunately, there is no chance of a tropical storm for this one, and May is one of the drier months for this part of Pennsylvania.

Here's to hoping the players and the weather bring their "A" game.
