One In 50 Million: An Ultra-Rare Lobster Caught Off Cape Cod

A fishing boat off the coast of Cape Cod brought this incredibly rare split-color lobster aboard. Split-colorization occurs when one egg absorbs the other after contact — creating a lobster with two sets of genetic information. The lucky catch was donated to the Woods Hole Science Aquarium, where it has been rehomed to be viewable by the public for as long as it lives.
