A wildfire has killed at least two people and injured one near Hemet in Southern California, roughly 50 miles southeast of Los Angeles.

T​he Fairview Fire has is now more than 44 square miles and is 49% contained according to a Sunday update from Cal Fire.

The wildfire, located Hemet in Southern California, roughly 80 miles southeast of Los Angeles, has killed at least two people and injured one near. At least 35 structures have been destroyed and six have been damaged.

T​ropical weather weather brought cooler temperatures, rain and humidity over the weekend which aided in fighting the blaze.

The two people killed in the fire were found in a vehicle last Monday and were possibly attempting to escape the flames.
