Firefighters in Northern California made progress in the battle against t​he Mosquito Fire Thursday, and the fire is 20% contained.

The fire ad reached more than 100 square miles early Thursday.is only 20% contained.

F​ire spokesperson Scott McLean said Wednesday that “the fire was held in check overnight" and that crews were able to keep the flames from the town of Foresthill.

Evacuation orders and warnings have been issued in Placer and El Dorado counties. Some 11,000 residents are under evacuation orders due to the fire.

According to a recent Cal Fire update, that at least 64 structures have been destroyed by the fire, and 10 have been damaged.
