Heavy Rain, Flood Threat Increasing On Gulf Coast

July 18, 2025

The flood threat across Louisiana and Mississippi is increasing through the end of the week. Flood watches are in effect for New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Lake Charles, Lafayette, Gulfport and Biloxi, and across southern Louisiana. Tropical downpours could produce rainfall rates in excess of 2-4 inches of rain per hour, and rain totals could reach up to 15 inches in isolated spots across the watch area. Please have a way to get warnings, especially at night and avoid driving into floodwaters.
