Submissions to the 2017 National Geographic Travel Photographer of the Year, currently underway, include a stunning shot of a freediver in a cave in Tonga and a breathtaking aerial image of Death Valley National Park.

Photographers from around the world are encouraged to submit images that captivate and astonish. National Geographic judges are looking for photos that "tell the story of a place and travel moments that inspire."

The official categories are Nature, Cities and People.

The 2017 National Geographic Travel Photographer of the Year contest will accept entries until June 30th. The grand prize winner will receive a 10-day trip for two to the Galápagos Archipelago with National Geographic Expeditions.
