...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1215 AM HST WEDNESDAY FOR THE ISLAND OF MAUI IN MAUI COUNTY... At 1018 PM HST, emergency management reported water over Hana Highway between Hana and Hamoa around 8 pm. Rainfall rates have been deceasing over the area and is now around 0.5 to 1.5 inches per hour. Water over the highway is receding. Another band of heavy showers southwest of Maui may increase showers again in the next couple of hours. Will continue to monitor for any additional heavy rain. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain. SOURCE...Emergency management. IMPACT...Flooding in drainages, streams, rivers, roads, properties, and other low-lying areas. Public road closures possible in some areas. Landslides are possible in steep terrain. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Hana, Kipahulu and Hamoa. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Stay away from streams, rivers, drainage ditches, and culverts, even if they are currently dry. FLASH FLOOD...OBSERVED
